Review: Spooked

Spooked
Spooked by Tracy Sharp

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Rating: 3.5

I got this book for free on my kindle and went into it not expecting much, but was given a good read. I enjoyed the characters, the story line was fast paced and engaging, and it was very spooky.

The reason I have this book a 3.5 is because it was an awesome read until around chapter 7, it reminded me of some 90s YA and it was great. But as chapter 7 rolled in, I think it was chapter 7 lol, it turned into this sci-fi thriller and it just didn't blend well with the book. It seemed like the author mashed two books together. First we start off with a town where our main character lives and in this town girls are going missing. Lorelei has a gift, she can take secrets and see secrets, but these creatures are after her because of her ability so she has to keep a low profile, but she decides to use her power to find the missing girls. I love that part of the book, it wasn't unique but it was engaging. Then, things get intense and more science fictiony and I lost interest when that happened. I finished the book but I don't see myself reading the next one if there is one. But if you want a fast paced, short read, pick this up. It was still a good read.

Review: City of Glass

City of Glass
City of Glass by Cassandra Clare

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Firstly, I just wanted to say that the way that this book ended, it doesn't seem like another 3 books were needed for the series. But I am going to read the next three just because I like the world and characters.

Spoilers Ahead...

This is the third and was supposed to be the final installment in The Mortal Instruments trilogy.
But Cassandra Clare ended up adding three more and now it is a series. I really, really enjoyed this
book and I was freaking out when I found out that Clary and Jace weren't brother and sister after all. I thought that was a crazy awesome twist and I applaud Cassandra Clare for pulling that one on us. Now, we get on to Sebastard, that asshole, I liked how ruthless he was but he killed Max and I wanted him dead and he died!!... I think... I actually think he might be the new villain for the next three books, but we'll see. We finally get to see what Clary and Jace are capable of, but I think we got to see Clary's abilities more. I don't even recall seeing Jace's abilities utilized at all... maybe I'm forgetting something lol but I liked that we got more info on that. I was happy to finally see Valentine get his ass whopped and now he's dead. He better stay dead because he was a weak villain, in my opinion. He was more like a Klaus (the vampire diaries) than a Voldemort. I was never scared of Valentine lol but that didn't mess the book up for me. I still loved it. I don't feel I really need to REVIEW this, because I suck at reviewing books but just know that I enjoyed it and I can't wait for "City of Bones" (movie). Now I need to BUY these books. I want them all in hardcover but that is going to be difficult, I will try.

thanks for reading and now I am onto starting "City of Fallen Angels".

Review: City of Ashes

City of Ashes
City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This one dragged a little so I deducted a star but other than that, I loved it. I enjoyed the story separation, it reminded me of J.K. Rowling's writing where some scenes are about Clary and Simon but in a flash of a paragraph you are in a dark room with Valentine and Imogen. You get to know the villain more as well as other characters when authors do this, I'm doing it now with Wicked Beautiful. I enjoyed this book and I cannot wait to see what happens in book 3 and why the hell Simon can be in the sunlight!! WTF is going on? all the questions!!!! I NEED ANSWERS NOW!!!!

Review: City of Bones

City of Bones
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I tried reading this two years ago but couldn't get into it. Flash forward to 2012, I was tempted once again and picked it up from the library. I am so glad that I did because I freaking loved this book. I loved the world, some of the characters, and Jace fucking Wayland. I've said everything that I wanted in my video review which you can check out below. I loved this book and I am currently reading the second and will read the third. Cassandra Clare is a great storyteller and this is definitely a favorite of 2012. I privated all my videos on MrRichardDenney but I'll link the City of Bones review below as unlisted and only you with the link can see my book thoughts video. :)

Review: Pale

Pale
Pale by Chris Wooding

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I read this in an hour which I think is awesome. The book is only 72 pages
but feels like a full novel. Note that this is not a SHORT STORY people need to research what
a short story is before they say something. This is a NOVELLA. I hated the main character, but in a good way. He was supposed to come off as a mean kid and his friends were worse. To me, this story was very unique and I enjoyed it. It was interesting to see the Pales treated like most Gay and Black citizens are treated, segregation is a bitch. I would say that if a kid read this they'd learn a lesson and I like that about this book. So check it out if you get the chance. One thing I really like is that the book will be available in September in Paperback and eBook form. It's a short book but I think even if a book is under 100 pages it should be in paperback too. That way everyone can enjoy it.

Thanks to NetGalley for this e-Arc.
and thanks to Rachel for letting me know where to get this book!
