Review: Still Waters

Still Waters
Still Waters by Emma Carlson Berne

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I have a Vlog coming up on my channel for this book and I think I explain it better
in the video. This book was very similar to "The Shining" (1980) starring Jack Nicholson with the story line of going away to an isolated area and the male character going crazy. Hannah, our protagonist, didn't have a backbone. If someone tried to kill her, she'd probably be dead within a minute. Hannah is pretty much "Wendy Torrance" from The Shining but at least Wendy had balls in parts of the film. The ending was anticlimactic and made me go "Wow. So I went through this entire book to be given this?" and the reason I gave the book 3 stars was because it definitely had potential, but it plummeted. If you think you'll enjoy it, then please go check it out. But I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

If you would like something similar to this book, read "The Best Friend" by R.L. Stine
or watch "Fear" starring Mark Wahlberg and Reese Witherspoon.

Review: Return to Finkleton

Return to Finkleton
Return to Finkleton by K.C. Hilton

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a great sequel to "The magic of finkleton".
I loved the ending and the sneak peek to book three was fantastic!
K.C. is a great writer and it shows her books. I cannot wait till book 3
comes out and I'd recommend this one to anyone who loves middle grade fantasy.
You don't HAVE to read the first book to know what the deal is, but it's wise to
read it anyway. :)

Review: Catching Fire

Catching Fire
Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 out of 5 stars because it was slow at parts.
One thing that bugs me is Katniss's feelings for Peeta. One minute she wants to kill him
in the arena and then she wants to save him. And with Gale, she doesn't know what she wants from him. It's not a love triangle it's a love square because she keeps going back to herself. I didn't understand her that much in Catching Fire, but I really want to read Mockingjay starting tonight!! I have to finish the trilogy before the movie comes out. Also, I am officially in love with Finnick. I love Peeta most, but I really like Finnick too. :)

Review: City Of The Dead

City Of The Dead
City Of The Dead by Tony Abbott

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I read this book in one day... actually I began at 8am and finished around 4pm.
I loved it. I thought it was fast paced and I love when Middle Grade novels are
told in the first person point of view. I think it gives the reader a better view of the
character and they feel like they are in the book. It was definitely creepy and the fact
that it takes place in New Orleans just makes ti that much better. I'd recommend it to anyone how lovs ghostly, creepy, paranormal middle grade fiction. Now, I must buy book 2 the series.
